October 2025 Balance Changes Review and Analysis

Hello! Michael here. Today, we are so back with some new docs from GW! I’ve been waiting on these for a while so I’ll dive in headfirst!

TREASURE TOKENS – V3

Token placement was once again changed. The first token no longer needs to go in the middle, which is quite nice!

This is a net positive change IMO. Sure, Shocking Assault caught some unwarranted nerfs, but in the long term this is better for game health.

NO PLOT LOCK?????

This is the most insane change in the entire document. PLOT LOCK IS GONE. THE CTC/EOTK DREAM CAN LIVE.

This opens up a lot of deckbuilding possibilities. We go to a whopping 55 deck combinations! This is great, I heavily endorse this change.

Get ready for a couple of Dexamples coming your way! 🙂

WARBAND CHANGES

Borgit got nerfed for some reason. He can no longer Da Bait himself onto a position your opponent will Overrun, as your opponent is the active player in this case. Unwarranted but I personally like the change – Borgit was annoying to place into cause of this.

Exiled Dead got Exiled further down into the meta, with their minions no longer being able to Hold or Delve. This limits deckbuilding opportunities but I do think they are a great candidate for EotK/CtC – which is now a legal deck! Also, Deadly Synergy and EotK seems cool. Point is – many double plot decks seem cool with them.

I’m not 100% sure what the heck happened here. It seems to be clarifying that you now deal X damage, where X is the amount of rolls, instead of dealing 1 damage X times. This is a neutral change but well needed as there were lots of stupid interactions you can do.

I haven’t played Knives of the Crone yet but I feel these were pretty self-explanatory. Still nice to see that they are officially clarified.

Someone play funeral music cause Zarbag got killed! Not really – their stats are still insane.

First of all, the inspire is WAY harder now – you will pretty much never have 9 inspired dudes anymore. This makes their great stats harder to access.

Scurry/Slippery Gitz is only once per turn – thank goodness.

Fungal Burst got reworked into something that is actually playable against. Killing a Git will now Stagger you once per game, instead of doing damage to you 7 times.

Using the Squig Push locks you out of Delving/Holding for an entire round which is warranted. You now once again are resorting to using them as attackers if you want to even use the push.

Volley is now required to make a second shot if you use it. I’m not too sure what the big idea here is but if someone does do let me know please.

Overall, this is a great change. It brings the warscroll down from ‘please don’t…’ to a more ‘ok, cool’ level. Their stats alone are still very good but this will knock the Gitz down from S++ Tier to somewhere in the mid-B Tier, in my opinion. They aren’t dead by any stretch of imagination.

Brethren are now legally allowed to have multiple Hymns! This is great to get official confirmation on.

DECK CHANGES

EotK got some clarification. That’s basically it. Calm Before the Storm is as good as we thought and Power in Numbers works as is stated on the card.

Same case with PnP and Lost in the Depths.

Into the Fire caught some buffs, with the major change being the addition of ‘or more’ after ‘2 fighters’. This is nice to have as you no longer need to force your leader into as stupid of positions.

Haymaker got a slight buff. This was technically clarification but it works out well for the card.

Realmstone Raiders got a LOT of FaQs.

First of all, no Raids against raised dudes. Net nerf.

Raider’s Rapture got clarified to be stronger. Net buff.

Brightstone Vigour got clarity. I’m assuming it means that Grievous doesn’t work for it? Correct me if I’m wrong please!

Pillage (the card) got nerfed/clarified.

Realmstone Raid got clarified in a good way.

Net wise, this is a buff to RR. All the good cards got better and all the bad/mediocre got worse.

Hammertide is now usable during Reckless Attitudes. Insane Cyreni buff.

Vicious Brawl got the Power in Numbers treatment.

Low on Options got clarified to be scorable in an end phase, but still not sure whether or not it works with playing a card.

Desperate Defence reduces damage… when it reduces damage. Truly insane change.

Fiery Temper got clarified to work with Drive Backs, which is very nice.

NEMESIS CHANGES

Nemesis format got some well-deserved changes.

First of all, Spitewood stuff is officially legal now! Yay.

Something not on the image is that all warbands which are downloadable and do not have a new warscroll in Spitewood are STILL PLAYABLE! This means that warband rotation is not currently in effect, which I endorse!

A change to the restricted list is that Claim the Prize got added. This is quite a confusing change in my opinion. First of all, this is the second card from PnP to get Restricted. However, the fact that both cards are surges makes it very difficult to justify taking Claim the Prize ever, as Delving for Wealth is easier in 98.97% of cases. So Claim the Prize is soft banned. Yay.

And that’s actually it! This is a decent update, obviously some more changes are in order (ahem Wurmspat ahem Soulraid) but as a starter this is nice. I hope the Restricted List gets revisited post-Worlds as well. The one restricted card system doesn’t really work that well, I argue that 3 Restricted cards per deck and a lot more restrictions is necessary in order to allow more deckbuilding creativity. Let me know what you think about the changes on the Staggerers Discord server, and with that, I hope to see you again soon!
