Hello! Michael here. Recently I came second at Worlds, and I wanted to come up with a creative way to do a tournament write-up rather than simply going on and on as usual about how each game went and so on and so forth.
Thus came to me this magnificent idea – what if I create a story version of my Worlds games, from the perspective of the Soulraid? Well, this article is the fruition of my possibly delusional idea! It might get a little long cause I might get carried away but that’s fine as long as it’s interesting ๐
I will try to keep the game mechanics and decisions still apparent, so you still get a learning experience reading the article, while keeping it fun. Hope you enjoy!
QUICK GUIDE
So first of all, everything is from perspective of the Idoneth and the fish and characters from the game. I try to Capitalize (Like So) cards so if you see stuff like ‘their Prospects were Broken’ you can assume that implies I scored Broken Prospects.
Also, I try to seperate rounds by images or by stating ‘Flood Tide, High Tide, and Ebb Tide’. If you haven’t played Soulraid (here is a guide of my deck btw!) then you should know that Flood Tide is the effect active in Round 1, High Tide is Round 2, and Ebb Tide is Round 3.
Some lore background: the Katophrane Curse is basically a curse that runs through the Underworlds Universe that keeps bringing all fighters back to life.
Finally, during the article I (Michael) will interject sporadicly to drop some thanks to players or comment, when I do so you will see the text pointed out:
Somewhat like this! With that, on to Elathain’s Worldsraid: Chapter One
WORLDS – FIRST BRACKET
The soul raid began in the lush forests of the Spitewood. Their first objective was to eradicate an infestation of Nurgleโs daemons who called themselves the Grandfatherโs Gardeners in order to establish a foothold in the area.
Elathain surveyed the surroundings and called for a more passive approach.
โTheir rot and filth cannot survive on its own, they must Sally Forth and Stand Firm in order to continue spreading their rot. When they do, we strikeโ.
As the battle began the Flood Tide descended. โI see an opening, I will try to Tear the Landscape in order to mess with their filthy rituals!โ, yelled Furiann as she charged forward. As she attacked, the Gardeners regrew in front of her very eyes – her gambit failed.
โFall back!โ, ordered Elathain, โWe must wait for the high tide!โ Duinclaw and the swarm of Spinefin tried to tear up treasure near the Soulraidโs territory, but ultimately failed. The plan to Tear the Landscape had to be scrapped – the Gardeners had an Iron Grasp over the region and were in a position of Supremacy.

As the high tide descended, the Gardeners kept pushing forward. Dripterus killed off the Spinefin and tried to Stand Firm, but Duinclaw was not having it. He charged and managed to swiftly decapitate Dripterus with his claws.
Elathain, taking advantage of the momentary distraction, emerged from a Cannily placed trap behind the Gardeners and killed Squort – the Gardenerโs pet. A swift order from Elathain was crucial to winning this position. โTammael! Get behind them!โ Tammael managed to damage Phelgmus, and Elathain moved for the killing blow – but alas, he missed. Still – the Gardenerโs Prospects were Broken.

As the tide ebbed, so did the chances of the Gardeners. Strewg was seriously affected by the Etherseaโs memory draining powers, as he believed that he was an expert Duelist – however he did not have the grace necessary to get onto the crucial treasure he needed to. Furiann and Tammael, in perfect synchrony, managed to kill Strewg – leading to a hard earned victory. But the battle wasnโt over yet.
Phelgmus and Slunge escaped, and the Katophrane Curse raised the fallen. Elathain knew the Gardeners would return. โLet us lay a trap among the pillars of Emberguardโ he declared.

The arrival of the Gardeners was simaltenous with the arrival of the Flood Tide. Phelgmus strode into the Soulraidโs territory, but didnโt strike for he knew the Flood Tide will hit back.
โIโll get himโ, Tammael calmly uttered. He struck with his harpoon, landing home, but Phelgmus was Holding the Line and Unnassailable. The Ethersea Predators that followed the Soulraid scuttled onto treasures, and Tore them up.
Furiann, taking advantage of the distraction caused by Tammael, rushed forwarded. Her strike had not landed, but her Wary Delving and Phantasmal Forms ensured that the Gardeners could not displace her or the treasure she was on.
The deadly menace known as Tammael ended the Flood Tide with a Swift Step towards Phelgmus, cleansing his filth. The Soulraid had Torn the Landscape up and left their Homeground Desolate.

As the high tide hit, so did Strewg. Aiming to avenge his fallen leader, he tried to take over Tammaelโs position but Tammael struck first – and he was Impossibly Quick while also putting his Shields Up.
Strewg was hopeless – the creatures that followed the Soulraid were converging, and he was trapped. For his last dying breath, he tried to hit Tammael.

โFilthy Nurglings. The water cleanses all rot.โ Tammael killed Slunge, and rest of the of Gardeners scattered. They could not hold Supremacy anymore. Squort had an Iron Grasp over his own territory but that was the only victory the Gardeners achieved that day.

Thanks to Brain for the amazing games! It was the very first games of the day and Brian acknowledged he made several crucial mistakes that let me get an early lead. Despite that, you were still a great sport, which I loved. This loss did not hinder Brian and he finished very strongly! Hope to play again ๐
โOur next soul harvest will come from the Kurnothโs Heralds – they have taken a foothold in the Spitewood.โ Elathain led his Soulraid to an early Tearing of the Landscape. However, try as they might, the Kurnothi were very hard to hit.
โHow are they so elusive! Their size prevents such dexterity!โ Furiann was outraged at Lenwytheโs surprising agility.
โKill them off one by one. It weakens them dramaticallyโ, Elathain ordered.
The battle seemed to be going well – though the Kurnothi were quite Close for Comfort, but they had discarded the Explosives they planned to Set and the Soulraid were thoroughly delving through many treasure piles in order to secure a good position. High tide was approaching.

As the tide hit, the Realm Sundered into two. Furiann was critically injured, and a fatal blow from Cullon finished her off. Tammael, try as he might, could not hit the killing blow on Lenwythe. โStand still, you prancing Centaur!โ As Tammael attempted his Hostile Takeover, the rest of the centaurs managed to secure an Iron Grasp on the battlefield. Lenwythe did fall, but the Havoc was already Spread.

Tammael was also hurt quite badly. โDuinclaw, Tammael, with me. We have to prevent them from taking the treasure!โ Elathain called to his comrades, but they were getting slaughtered left and right by the centaurs. Elathain knew there was a slim chance he can salvage this position, but to do so he must get to the Aqua Ghyranis – a place of power for the Deepkin. As he did, the Centuars finished claiming the specific treasure they needed and retreated.

As the Katophrane Curse stirred, so did the dead Soulraid. They rose, and Elathain ordered to give chase.
It was Lenwythe who they saw first. She appeared from the shadows, shooting at Tammael, but he flawlessly dodged the attack. โWe have to strike first. I will go!โ Tammael charged into her, wounding her but not fatally.
Lenwythe looked vulnerable and Ylarin galloped into the fray. His sheer presence was dominating. โWe have to kill Lenwythe, then focus on Ylarinโ, ordered Elathain. The Soulraidโs Homeland was Desolate, Against All Odds.

As the high tide rose, the Soulraid struck. Furiann attacked into Lenwythe and Shared the Load with Duinclaw. Ylarinโs Sharp Reflexes were notable, but he could not resist the Sirenโs Call emitted by Elathain – the Battle Lured Ylarin into the Soulraidโs waiting blades.
Several silent blows later, Ylarin was dead – the battle was as good as won. โRetreat. We have what we need. We must find where they regroup and strike again.โ Elathain slunk away, and the Soulraid followed.

They met the Heralds again in a nearby grove. Tammael and Lenwythe exchanged shots, while Ylarin secured some treasure. Duinclaw and the Spinefin were Delving for Wealth too, leaving their Homeland Desolate once again.
โThe Aqua Ghyranis stands undefended! I will take it!โ Tammael charged into a group of Waystones, and wounded Lenwythe, but most importantly he Swiftly Stepped into the Aqua Ghyranis. The rejuvenating energies engulfed him, and he seemed ready to strike again. However, the Heralds had Set Explosives – ready to be detonated at a momentโs notice.

The high tide began and Tammael struck, murdering Lenwythe. โVictory is almos-โ, his triumphant cry was cut off. An angry bellow emitted from Cullon heralded his charge, and left Tammael without his soul. Knowing his Namarti could be recharged, Elathain wasnโt worried. โFuriann, focus on the leader.โ With a Keen Eye, Furiann charged into Ylarin – but he parried her attack when she tried to Twist her Sword.
Duinclaw also joined the fight against Ylarin. Cullon tried to stop the Soulraid from Stripping the Realm, but the Spinefin emerged and struck him, leaving him paralyzed. It was Ylarinโs sense of strategy that secured the Heralds a crucial treasure. However, Prospects were looking Broken for the Heralds.

โFuriann, wait for them to strike first. Then, we strike. The tide ebbs – our powers are fading.โ Elathain thought his plan was sound, but he underestimated the power of Cullon. The mighty Centaur charged into Furiann. His Great Strength penetrated even the Phantasmal Tricks that Furiann had set up, leaving her dead. Duinclaw attempted to strike back, but Cullon sidestepped away.
โWell, this is quite the predicament. No matter! Duinclaw, share the load of that treasure with the Spinefin!โ However, before Duinclaw could act, Ylarin came crashing down upon him – killing the crab. Elathain was devastated. His bad planning led to all his comrades dying, with the exception of the Spinefin. Try as they might, they couldnโt defeat the two centaurs who were Utterly Convicted of their victory. They had a clear Iron Grasp on battlefield.
โNext time, kill us faster. You held back, Soulrender. Donโt.โ Elathain heard Ylarin call to him as he fled the scene of defeat. He didnโt know what to think of the advice.

Massive thanks to G for these games! Props for piloting the Centuars this high up in the tournament. G also gave me some fantastic advice for my deck which I used for the rest of the tournament to great success, so thanks for that as well ๐
As they were heading to another site that had souls, the Soulraid were surprised to be ambushed byโฆ themselves? โNagashโs magic is getting out of hand.โ
As the ambush happened, a Trapped Cache exploded near the Spinefin, sending them scattering to the waves. Tammael hung back, knowing Elathain preferred him out of danger. Throwing harpoons was boring work but necessary for a Hostile Takeover. When his shadow clone descended upon him from the enemyโs Ethersea, Tammael was caught unprepared. Furiann strode into enemy tides and Warily Delved as Tammael retreated, striking a blow into Furiannโs evil clone. The Soulraidโs Hostile Takeover had gone as planned and they had Delved for enough Wealth already.

As the high tide swelled, the Soulraidโs shadow clones also gained power. Shadow-Elathain swung into Furiann, but her Phantasmal Tricks deceived even him. โFuriann! Fall back! You cannot hold there for long!โ Elathain could not bear to lose his comrades again. Furiann stuck around for two more blows but it was getting hard even for her. She ran away, not missing an opportunity to strike at her shadow clone. Shadow-Elathain followed her, and struck her down. Devasted, Elathain knew he had to strike – a swift charge Struck True and killed Shadow-Furiann as well.
Though the tide ebbed, Tammael did not. He knew to Break the Prospects of the enemy he must Overrun the shadow crab and delve his treasure. As he threw the harpoon, a magical force appeared around shadow-Duinclaw. Though injured, the shadow-crab had not budged. This was unthinkable. โElathain, my harpoons cannot budge this crab. Nagashโs weird magic is too powerful!โ As Tammael was calling to Elathain, he was struck down. Elathain tried to harvest a soul to bring the Namarti back but couldnโt. To make things worse, shadow-Elathainโs Lure of Battle affected even the normally peaceful Duinclaw and the shadow Soulraid had Stripped the Realm dry.
โWe have to regroup. Come, Duinclaw.โ

As the Katophrane Curse did its magic, Elathain knew they had to change something up. Before a plan was devised, Shadow Furiann re-emerged from the enemy Ethersea and had taken a strategic position. โFuriann, strike at Tammael. Or rather, his clone. Iโm not sure whatโs going on anymore.โ Elathainโs orders were heard loud and clear, and shadow Tammael was seriously injured. โOne more strike! Come, Tammael!โ As Tammael moved in to kill his clone, the same magic that had protected shadow-Duinclaw struck again, and shdaow-Tammael grinned – โThe real threat was always behind you.โ Shadow-Elathain emerged from the depths and knocked Duinclaw off the treasure he was defending. The Spinefin, aiming to stop a Stripping of the Realm, delved – but an explosive Cache killed them off. Things were looking hopeless.

As high tide landed, Elathain knew he couldnโt kill shadow-Tammael. Tammael himself was looking very injured and he would need the cloneโs soul to Raise the Namarti. But he never got the chance. After killing Duinclaw, shadow-Elathain charged into Elathain, delivering a Gloryseeking blow to the Soulrender. As Elathain fell, the battle looked lost.
But not for Furiann. โTammael, kill your clone – he is getting very obnoxious.โ Hoping that her orders were carried out, she charged into her own clone. โI know of your phantasms – they donโt affect me!โ Despite Furiann missing, her clone slipped of the treasure she was on. Now no one was standing on any treasures, allowing the Realm to be Stripped.
Tammael was vulnerable as the tide ebbed. He had healed from the powers of Aqua Ghyranis but it was looking very dire. Furiann retreated onto a nearby treasure, trying to Break the enemyโs Prospects. Tammael finally managed to kill his evil twin through some Canny teleportation tricks, but then he was forced into a retreat as well. Furiann knew that to Break the enemy Prospects she would have to visit two more treasure piles all alone – it was not looking possible. Her only hope was that the enemy would not gain much more power either.
โYou tried well, Deepkin. But you forget – I can also harvest the Aqua Ghyranisโ. Shadow-Elathain menacingly moved next to Furiann, claiming the Aqua Ghyranis for himself. That was the last straw – the battle was over. The Landscape was Torn from both perspectives, but it was not enough.

Thanks to Aman for the great games! It was really quite close – I feel I could have won especially if Duinclaw had not double-crit in Game 1 ๐ It was nice to finally play with you!
After Day 1 I was on a 1W-2L record. I could still maybe make the top cut but it required some insane games from myself and my opponents, as Strength of Schedule (SoS, which is basically opponent win rate) was the first tiebreaker.
Feelings were quite grim. Failing to capture not one but two souls is something unprecedented. Still, Elathain wasn’t know as the ‘Ill-Fated’ for nothing – so soon he had a backup plan.
Their next target was a group of Duradin. The battle started off a little questionably. Furiann and Tammael worked in synchrony to eliminate Garodd, while the rest of the duradin where off claiming treasure. “Typical duradin – they care nothing off their own kind, save for how much money anyone has.” As Furiann was complaining, she crucially forgot to delve deeper into the cover she was hiding in – thus, the Soulraid were able to Tear the Landscape but the Duradin Stripped the Realm.

“The High Tide rises – we must attack now!” Elathain was learning from his previous mistakes, and knew he had to attack while their power was strong. He slashed into Drakskewers’s balloon, cleaving it and releasing air, but Drakskewer was able to heal up. A second blow to him swiftly yielded a soul to the Lurelight. Thundrik himself ran up to Elathain and atmospherically isolated him. “I live underwater – I don’t need this ‘air’ you speak of.” With the power of high tide fading, Tammael ran forward and struck down Enrik by Twisting his Harpoon through the armor. The Fields were covered in Blood!

With the tide ebbing, Elathain knew that the duradin had not claimed Supremacy yet. To stop them doing so, he had to kill Thundrik. But, Thundrik struck first. As his tools pierced Elathain’s Armor, the Sanguine Pearl on Elathain’s Talunsickle shimmered and he was protected – barely standing, but still alive. He struck back, being the Gloryseeker that he was, and relieved Thundrik of his soul. A cry from Lund and a well-placed bullet later, and Elathain was dead. “The Katophrane Curse will return him! Keep Delving for Wealth, the battle is as good as won”. Furiann liked being in charge, she only got to do so when Elathain was away. Despite the Duradin’s Iron Grasp, their Prospects were Broken by the Soulraid.

As the curse brought everyone back to life, the Duradin did not seem keen on leaving – in fact, they remained on the same battlefield.
“Furiann – let’s say we kill the pesky sword guy again?” Tammael’s idea was sound, and executed swiftly. Elathain didn’t hold back much this time – the curse reinvigorated him in a strange way, and managed to knock Enrik off a crucial treasure pile. Tammael was killed in the process, but High Tide was only beginning.
“Parry this!” Elathain began with a clean kill onto Enrik, taking a Duellistic step to the side in order to secure a better position. With Enrik’s death, Tammael rose again – empowered by new souls. Drakskewer attempted a countercharge, but Elathain skillfully blocked the Duradin’s Gloryseeking blow and struck into Thundrik with his Talunsickle magically piercing the leader’s armor, killing the dwarf instantly. At this point, only two duradin remained. “Let’s make that one”. Tammael noticed someone trying to sneak away, and quickly caught up for a kill.
As the tide ebbed, the Soulraid were toying with Drakskewer. Knowing that the duradin was slow and heavy, they picked at him with their soulnets and harpoons. Unfortunately, Drakskewer was not having it and charged into Elathain who was completely unprepared and was sent back to Nagash. “Ok – I think we end it now.” Tammael charged onto a treasure pile while simultaneously avenging his leader. This secured a much-needed decisive victory against the dwarves – the Soulraid were back!

Thanks to Michael for the games! Both my opponent and I were ‘Michael K’, and we came to the conclusion that we had the best name in the tournament. No, disagreeing is not allowed. Anyways, thanks to Michael for being a great sport about the game and props for representing Thundrik well at such a prestigious event! Hope to play again sometime ๐
The next target the Soulraid were assigned was a dankhold Troggoth – but instead, they met a shamanic pack of beast-followers known as the Gnarlspirit Pack.
Lupan led the ambush, charging onto treasure deep in the Soulraid’s lines. A bestial spirit emerged from Lupan, but he quickly Self-Commanded and delved into the shadows, becoming nigh-unhittable. “A fun challenge. Bold of him to assume he can hide from us.” Tammael, who was already blind, didn’t care about Lupan’s cover and hit him with his harpoon. Elathain followed up, leaving an otherwise-unhittable Lupan without a soul. Sarakkar, the leader of the pack, charged forward with bestial roars to avenge the fallen Lupan, but Duinclaw’s carapace blocked his strike. Tammael mirrored Sarakkar’s charge into Crimson Kheira and left her very vulnerable. The battle only begun, but the Fields were already Bloody.

With high tide rising, the Soulraid was ready to strike. Tammael charged onto a Waystone, but his lack of sight lessened it’s effect on him, and he missed his killing blow onto Kheira. Gorl, who turned away for a split second to look at what happened behind him, was swiftly killed by Furiann, who triggered a Trap on the Cache she was standing and then struck Gorl down with a Gloryseeking strike. “Die, crab!” Sarakkar kept swinging into Duinclaw, whose carapace was nigh-inpenetrable. Duinclaw was doing his best to scuttle away, and was getting away with it! As the high tide reached it’s end, Elathain’s Soulnet flew from the shadows to latch onto Kheira, relieving her of her soul. Neither warband was letting the other one Strip the Realm.

“Not much left to do here. We simply delve at the treasures and we can depart.” Elathain knew the battle was pretty much won, but before it could end he heard a crunch – Duinclaw was finally killed by Sarakkar’s persistent blows.
“The Crab’s Curse is upon them – we shall return when they come back!”

With the shenanigans of the Katophrane’s Curse, everyone was back to life.
During preparations, disaster struck – Elathain forgot to request a resupply of their upgrades, which meant they were going into battle with tools completely unsuited for their purpose. This meant that he had to play dirty…
“Tammael, Furiann – please eliminate Kheira.” Despite not having any fallback plan, the Idoneth complied – they trusted Elathain with their life. Even Elathain’s soul-beast followed his commands instinctually. Knowing that Gorl had caused him grievances in a past life and seeing an opening, Duinclaw charged into the durable beastman. A sucker claw to the face left Gorl reeling. To welcome the high tide, Elathain harvested Kheira’s soul as she was attempting to run away with his usually-inaccurate Soulnet. The Soulraid’s Homeland was Desolate of invaders and treasure too.

The battle was salvaged – with the newfound souls and treasure acquired, the Soulraid geared up and surfed into High Tide with ease. Unfortunately for Elathain, Gorl had enough – two swift strikes into Elathain’s Armor of the Cythai left the soulrender dead. Duinclaw was outraged – another charge, and Gorl joined Elathain in the realm of Nagash. “Nice, Duinclaw!” Furiann particularly enjoyed the crab.
Meanwhile, Tammael was fighting Sarakkar. Choosing to go for a more damaging rather than accurate strike, his harpoon hit home and Sarakkar was left staggering back into some lava. He took on a bird-form with his bestial powers and flew to the other end of the battlefield, but not far enough from the Idoneth during High Tide. Waves propelled Furiann forward as she charged into Sarakkar and killed him instantly, now Tearing the Landscape as well.

With the tide ebbing, Lupan felt calmer – he has been in situations like this before, and without the power of High Tide the Deepkin felt beatable. Unfortunately, he never had the chance to start anything.
“An easy kill to end this bloody battle.” Tammael wiped his harpoon off, and with Furiann and Duinclaw they delved for all the treasure they still needed, securing a decisive end to the carnage they were just in.

Thanks to George for these two games! Nice to see you again in person!
I want to take a quick second to acknowledge that my forgetting to mulligan of my 5 upgrade power hand may have led to some questionable charges that all landed in game 2 so I hope we play again some other time ๐
Always great to play with you!
For the final soul harvest before moving on to their next location, the Soulraid actually got to harvest some Dankhold Troggoth. This time for real!
Mollog and his Mob sensed the Ethersea earlier than others. They attacked first – Mollog’s menagerie led the charge with Mollog planning to go in last. “Bait the troll in, wait for him to get Staggered by our Flood Tide. Then strike him down during High Tide”, ordered Elathain. Tammael was throwing harpoons at the squigs, pretending not see the gigantic troggoth only a few metres away. Luckily, the troll’s minions were easily subdued by the Siren’s call and were Lured into the Battle, thus allowing Tammael to Strip the Realm and secure a good positional advantage for the Soulraid.

“It’s high tide – the troll dies now!” The Idoneth did their best to carry out this order. A charge from Furiann left Mollog VERY angry, and he swiftly killed her off. Mollog’s minions also seemed to gain power. Being left very vulnerable, Mollog disappeared from the battle scene – as if he was an Illusory Fighter. Tammael sensed him far back, and charged the troll, hitting a well-aimed Harpoon while also Tearing the troll’s Landscape.

While Elathain’s initial plan of killing Mollog during High Tide may have failed, Tammael wasn’t discouraged – with Elathain distracting the troll and his minions in the front lines, Tammael charged into Mollog from a Waystone. A weird noise emanated from the troggoth as he fell from Tammael’s Gloryseeking strike. None of Tammael’s comrades were alive to witness this, except the Spinefin, so Tammael walked back onto the Aqua Ghyranis to secure a win.
But the Spinefin wasn’t done. Despite knowing none of the elves will see this, he charged into the Bat Squig, knocking him off a treasure pile, and then used his Duellist prowess to get himself on the token. He Warily Delved for the treasure, which Broke Mollog’s Prospects completely.

The Katophrane Curse did it’s work again to revive the Deepkin. But Mollog was also back.
“Let’s try that again. Kill the troggoth during High Tide!” This time, the Idoneth knew what to expect. Some of the Mollog’s minions attempted to Outmuscle the elves early on, but their lack of Unity made it hard. A Trapped Cache exploded near Mollog and Tammael managed to stick a well-aimed Harpoon into him, but unfortunately Mollog was able to fully regenerate with his healing powers. But Mollog’s Prospects were already very broken.
High Tide hit, and to Elathain it looked like a repeat of last battle – the troll had not taken any damage. Furiann’s Great Strength played a crucial roll in changing this. Tammael joined the fray, Twisting his Harpoon for extra damage, but unfortunately a mystical force protected the troll. The Troll himself charged into Elathain, and killed the soulrender instantly with his Nasty Critters. With the remaining Idoneth tired out from charging, things were looking very grim.
That’s when Duinclaw riled up. Remembering his past death to the troll, he glared at the now-Charged Mollog with a very Keen Eye. Mollog sensed this danger but it was too late to prevent – the High-Tide empowered crab scuttled across half the battlefield, away from the danger of Mollog’s minions, and delivered a devastating blow with his claw. Mollog was sent flying, and the troll was dead. “Well done Duinclaw!” Both Idoneth saw this unfold in front of them. Despite looking Lost in the Depths, the tide was shifting in the elves’ favor.

“Now all we need to do is Share the Load of this treasure and we can leave.” But it was easier said then done – Furiann never got to finish talking as she was killed by a charge from the Spiteshroom. Duinclaw was not in a position to be support or be supported, so he was also killed by a Coordinated Deathblow from the Bat Squig, finally being able to unite with his minions.
“Once again, down to me.” Tammael was injured but a Healing Potion brought him back to good health. He was a Prideful Duellist, but even so he didn’t take an unnecessary risk. Delving for Wealth was the key.
The Bat Squig released a Scream of Anger, and charged, Coordinating his Deathblow – but it wasn’t enough to kill Tammael – a second strike was necessary. Tammael slipped away with the waves, knowing he had to Strip the Realm to win – a strike into the Spiteshroom left Got him Stuck In combat. As he figured what to do next, he realised Delving for Wealth was not part of the plan. The Spiteshroom tried to deny Tammael’s Realm Stripping, but a quick strike from the Namarti led the Shroom’s Fate to Branch in many different directions.
Not even a Siren’s Call was necessary – the Realm was Stripped, and the battle was very barely won.

Thanks to Danielle for the games! It was great playing you again. Sorry that I keep bringing up Mollog dying to the crab ๐ Hope to play you again soon!
Switching out of storytelling mode, because I cannot figure out how the heck I am supposed to convey this, but I DID make Top Cut in the end despite going 4-2! In my Pool, we had (if I recall correctly) one undefeated player (G., who I played in Game 2) and three players who went 4-2 make the cut – myself, Grzegor, and Alexander.
Unfortunately I did notice that this article was a pretty staggering ~4800 words. That makes it a little scary to read. Therefore, the Soulraid’s adventure will continue in the article below:
Elathain’s Worldsraid: Chapter Two
I also go into a much more stereotypical outro and heartfelt thanks and all that stuff there so think of it as an extension of this article ๐
With that, I would love to know your opinions on this article type. Did you enjoy it or hate it, and would you prefer I keep Tournament Reviews in a more traditional format? Let me on Discord!
As usual, thanks for reading, and looking forward to seeing you again soon! ๐
