Tournament Spotlight #6: Thanatek Gaining Respect at Copenhagen

Michael: Hello! Michael here. You can tell cause of the slanted name at the start. Today I will be going over my tournament this past weekend, namely the Copenhagen Grand Clash!

I met a lot of people I knew online but didn’t have the pleasure of meeting in person as well as saw some folks from last year as well – which was obviously an amazing experience! So far this was my favorite event of the the year but here’s to even better events in the coming months!

Being an absolute madlad I took Thanatek’s Tithe. I know, I know. “Only the second most OP warband in the game? He must be selling.” Luckily I already had a Golden Ticket so I didn’t need to take the MOST overpowered warband in the game.

I paired Thanatek with PnP and CtC, coincidentally my exact same deck as the Nottingham Clash two weeks ago. Yes, I said i’ll improve it, but then I realized it was perfect (translation – i was busy). Anyways, here’s the list:

Decklink

Before you get annoyed at me not spilling my secrets on how to play this deck, don’t get too riled up – I am working on a deck guide not as we speak cause I am working on this as we speak but nonetheless I am working on it.

Anyways, onto the games! For anyone new to my tournament spotlights I like to do them on a Game by Game, Round by Round basis. So expect a lot of detail! (also this is the second tournament in a row I managed to take photos of almost every round – unfortunately missing out on one of the most epic one – so i’m quite proud of myself)

Game 1: vs Anders (Gitz BA/DS)

I played vs Anders in my last CPH Clash so it was nice to see him again very early on. He was once again playing Gitz, this time it was BA/DS, which is a pairing Iโ€™ve never seen for Gitz before but it seemed scary.

Round 1 was very nice for me. I started off by getting charged 3 times. I canโ€™t remember the details of the charges but evidently none of my guys died, which was quite huge. I had Trapped Cache + Raging Tremors ready to kill a git to score Strip the Realm, but unfortunately Sekhmor got driven away too far. Also I wasnโ€™t scoring Torn Landscape. Luckily, people often forget that Thanatek is actually flying. Despite being hit by a wall of Gitz I charged with him through them and managed to connect my necromantic bolt into a 1 Dodge Git, scoring Strip but also Torn Landscape!

Round 2 began with getting Visions of Ruin out (technically last round) and Thanatek fleeing back to the backlines, which probably owed me my win as now it was very hard to reach him. Knowing how important Thanatek is to winning I dumped like half my power hand into him to keep him alive despite no apparent threat. Tukhar and Medeb-Akh were holding off a battalion of Gitz consisting of Zarbag and Snirk, and they werenโ€™t winning but werenโ€™t losing either. I canโ€™t recall my objectives (it was the first tournament game) but the round ended with a attack from Xar-Tamok to not only get Hostile Takeover but also bump Zarbag INTO Snirk to get the chief git off the board.

Round 3 started off with a pretty close score. However, I had Broken Prospects and Anders did hold one token at the start. I lost the roll off and a 3 sword attack into Sekhmor was expertfully dodged which allowed me to charge Thanatek across the whole field again and kill the Token git. Both retainers were still stuck in a pinch but Anders focused on taking Sekhmor out, as Sekhmor could still team wipe. Going into the third activation I charged Xar-Tamok to โ€œsafetyโ€, but then realized something – I had 2 Cadaver and nothing to use it on, and I have a mass ping on my scroll. So, being myself, I attack Drizgit, got a crit hit leaving him vulnerable, and popped Necromantic Pulse into 5 Gitz. Some praying to Nagash ensured that I connected TWO TIMES, with Xar-Tamok hitting twice and Medeb-Akh staggering Snirk. Both hits were also kills, which Anders claims ended the game for him there. I did score some more (Broken Prospects for instance) but the game ended with a very nice score (for me) of 21-15.

Thanks a lot to Anders for the game – you were great fun to play with even though we both somehow managed to find 2 rules to circumvent per activation (I think that added a lot to the fun). Looking forward to our inevitable rematch next year ๐Ÿ™‚

Game 2: vs. Mattias (Blood of the Bull PnP/ES)

I was still super excited off my two kill Necromantic Pulse last game so I made some questionable decisions WHICH I COULD JUSTIFY (definitely). I played very aggressively in Round 1, with the goal of delving as many tokens as possible to score Broken Prospects and deny inspiration. Unfortunately not many attacks connected, with the only one being on Tokkor, but I did achieve my goal of messing up inspiration and I also got Broken Prospects. Here I made a pretty big mistake of gambling and not delving a token to score Torn Landscape which gave Mattias Strip the Realm.

By the start of Round 2 I was aiming to kill Zuldrakka, but I missed my first attack forcing me to commit two activations to kill her. Unluckily during these two activations Tokkor used Tunneling Terror to get close to Thanatek and murdered him – not very ideal. Once again, I was down a 2-3 glory trade. I tried to make the best of it, and was able to kill Murrodok by charging with Desperate Rage and 2 re-rolls into one Shield (as Mattias couldnโ€™t generate any more demon die as I began the round with Raging Tremors), but then missed a 3 Sword with a re-roll and Ensnare attack into Tokkor and failed to score my own Strip the Realm. At this point it was very close still! I kept Strip the Realm with hopes next round.

Start of Round 3 had Medeb-Akh get murdered by a 3 Hammer attack from Imnidrin, something I wasnโ€™t too happy about. Luckily, Tukhar got Visions of Ruin and using the Cata 4 obtained from Medeb-Akhโ€™s death was able to not only reach Imnidrin but kill her by shoving her into a 4-Die Sunder the Realm. Here, Tokkor was able to Canny Sapper back to his territory and I saved my Wary Delver on Tukhar, which was a mistake costing me the fighter. Next, I knew I had to deny Torn Landscape, and I tried to maximize my glory by ditching Strip the Realm for Share the Load. I did score Share the Load but was unable to deny Torn because Mattias noticed something I didnโ€™t – me not having Strip meant that he could easily delve 3 tokens as he didnโ€™t actually have to hold a treasure. The final score came out to be 19-20 for Mattias – extremely close!

Thanks a lot to Mattias for the game – you played extremely well and took great advantage of my greedy plays, which I thought was masterfully played ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope to play again in the future!

Game 3 – vs. Lars (Rippa BA/DS)

I was actually very scared going into Rippa cause I got owned by them in my practice games. Very luckily I won boards, allowing me to place Thanatek very very safely. I also deployed all my fighters super cagey, as did Lars. Round 1 had me keep Torn and Broken Prospects so all I did was walk around and delve. Medeb-Akh was chosen as honorary advancer and charged onto the middle token with Wary Delver, allowing him to fend off incoming wolf bites very effectively. The round ended uneventfully as Medeb-Akh kept getting charged by 2 dice attacks, turns out 2 Guard in Cover is very good against that.

Round 2 began with me putting Medeb-Akh on guard to score Shocking Assault. He kept defending attacks which was nice, but he was getting supported by Thanatekโ€™s interdimensional space dagger. Which was very epic, as I was able to not only not get Flanekd but to cause the Snarlfangs to be Flanked! I held the token the whole round and also managed to get a TON of damage on Stabbit by hitting a Gloryseeker + Desperate Rage. Medeb-Akh teleported away with Canny Sapper to ensure I didnโ€™t lose out on kill bounty.

Round 3 started with Tukhar assassinating Stabbit. I then did a lot of very aggressive walking into no oneโ€™s territory to score Careful Survey. My final activation was Tukhar moving away from all the danger onto the Aqua Ghyranis, scoring Against the Odds in the process. This whole time, Tukhar and his mighty one dodge fended off about 3 shots from Mean-Eye. He was vulnerable this whole time!! The final score ended with a very mighty 16-2 win for me.

I have to say, for a warband so reliant on dice Larsโ€™ dice were absolutely abysmal this game. In addition, Meded-Aksโ€™s two guard in cover made it very difficult to kill him (thus proving Thanatek is OP). Even so, thanks a lot for the game Lars and for being an amazing sport despite the demonic aberrations you called your dice rolls! Hope to play again one day ๐Ÿ™‚

Game 4: vs. Frederick (Exiled Dead WnR / DS)

My Austrian teammate Tristan decided to take the exact same warband and pairing as Frederick the day before and both of the players also played the exact same warband and deck the year before as well, which was really funny.

Anyways, Round 1 began with as one might expect some Danses. I played vs. ED in Nottingham so I knew I had to simply be up in kill bounty or just not lose Thanatek. I managed to draw my delve stuff early meaning I didnโ€™t need to focus on it later. I managed to kill two zombies this round with some nice Crit-Grievouses, and also got Thanatek out of danger whilst spreading out, leading to me being harder to surround. I also scored Strip the Realm, which I had a very elaborate plan to score because I thought Marcov would go on a token and I had Canny Sapper and Savage Blow and everythingโ€ฆ but then he never moved meaning my 5 power cards were all left unplayed.

Round 2 began with me killing the two arcwalkers still in my territory. I then ran away with Thanatek (after scoring Shocking Assault of course) and happened to kill a zombie on the way and get Hostile Takeover with Improv Attack. As Frederickโ€™s zombies started crawling back, I was able to fully leverage Thanatekโ€™s insane 1 Damage output along with Sunder the Realm to block any single one of them crossing the middle line. I scored my hard cards so I just sat back and blasted zombies to my heartโ€™s content, not allowing Frederick to score much.

Round 3 had me finish off the arcwalkers for good with Thanatek just sniping away with his accurate attacks. But before that, I had to kill Regulus using my inspired Tukhar because he was the last threat remaining and 3 Hammers Cleave did not disappoint.  I also sat back and scored Broken Prospects. Deintalos himself came to try and kill Xar-Tamok, but failed as he wasnโ€™t inspired for some reason. Also Xar-Tamok was once again 2 dice on Guard in Cover. A very safe Round 3 ended the game with a 19-5 score for me.

Thanks a lot to Frederick (or as we know him now, Tristanโ€™s twin) for the game! I had great fun unleasing the full wrath of my one damage on you and while I donโ€™t think you had as much fun as myself, I still appreciate you keeping good spirits about it and making it enjoyable! Hope we play again soon ๐Ÿ™‚

Game 5: vs. Bastian (Gitz PnP/DS)

I only needed one more win to guarantee the upper bracket tomorrow, and because of WTC 2025 (ad break – make sure to sign up to WTC 2026! if youโ€™re interested let me know on Discord!) I was very experienced with Gitz.

Bastian started by deploying Snirk in a โ€˜one way charge angleโ€™, but very kindly of him it was a one-way for me. I spent Round 1 very passively as I knew that he couldnโ€™t out passive me, a CtC player, so all I did was delve 3 tokens for an easy Broken Prospects. I did take one damage from Snirk to do so, however. I also managed to get a Round 1 Hostile Takeover!

Round 2 had Snirk make an attempt on Sekhmorโ€™s life which was not very kind. I did dodge, which was great. Medeb-Akh started advancing deeper into Gitz land because I knew my 2 Shields were impenetrable and Tukhar was right there behind him (with Hurled Weapon) and oh my gosh they absolutely dominated the Gitz. Medeb-Akhโ€™s crit Grievous was proccing every single attack (or so it felt) and he was just going absolutely god mode. What helped was having easy delve objectives in hand so Round 2 was all about bringing more souls to Nagash. Another very helpful thing was both of us having Torn, leading to Bastian scoring it for me!

Round 3 began with Snirk making another attempt on someoneโ€™s life, this time Thanatekโ€™s. Sekhmor was brave enough to countercharge, which actually saved me life as I blocked the attack with a crit and a single, otherwise I would have died! Then Utter Conviction came out and Thanatek was fine. The โ€˜Medeb-Akhโ€™ show was still playing but Tukhar got killed by Zarbagโ€™s backstab. A squiq tried to Canny Sapper and kill Thanatek too but before he could I blasted him with some epic necromancy (as he was vulnerable from Trapped Cache) and killed him. The round ended with Medeb-Akh getting on an Aqua Ghyranis, solidifying this game as the โ€˜Medeb-Akh gameโ€™ and winning with a nice round score of 19-13.

However, this isnโ€™t the last I saw of Bastian!

Game 6: vs. Heikki (GSP BA/PnP)

Heikki was someone who I wanted to play against as everyone knows he is a very fun opponent (those rumors are true btw).

Round 1 began with an absolutely stellar play from Heikki that basically ended the game for me right there. Like, not even kidding, he managed to brick an entire hand of surges that I kept cause they were all easy by doing one simple thing – making a move with Lupan instead of charging. This prevented me from playing Countercharge and getting Cadaver and Careful Survey and Hostile Takeover (or Perfect Cut, I forgot). To make matters worse, he played his triple push and took control of 3 tokens before I even got my first turn. I countered his move by moving myself to try get Share the Load and was actually able to score it later, but not before Thanatek got Trapped Cacheโ€™d and Kheira charged leading him to go into Round 2 vulnerable. Luckily, I was able to get an epic interdimensional space dagger off into Lupan AND HIT WITH MY 1 SUCCESS INTO 2 DICE ON GUARD which proves that the interdimensional space dagger literally never misses (it hasnโ€™t to this game!). As stated I did score 0 end phases but kept all 3 surges which wasnโ€™t helpful, but Heiki only scored Against the Odds.

Round 2 – Thanatek died ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I tried to avenge his death with a Gloryseeking Desperate Rage into Kheira and did roll two hits, but Heikki did get a crit leading to Kheira surviving on one health (and for the rest of the game). I lost another fighter afterwards leading to me not having enough bodies to kill Kheira and score Careful Survey so I opted for the latter. I did manage to kill Lupan, though. Not sure how. At this point I lost both assassins. I donโ€™t think I scored much outside of Hounds of War this round but luckily neither did Heikki – we were both having a very low scoring game so far outside of kills.

Round 3 began with Xar-Tamok somehow dying. Iโ€™m not entirely sure how tbh. Anyways, I saw my only hope lied in Strip the Realm which Heikki would never let me score or Broken Prospects which wasnโ€™t actually in my hand. Heikki made a very smart play of not chasing down my retainer and instead winning the game, by simply running around the entire board and scoring Torn (for me as well), Broken Prospects, but luckily I did prevent Strip the Realm!

Thanks a lot to Heikki for this game – as stated the rumors of him being an epic opponent are very true. Despite my very abysmal game I still managed to only be down 4 glory with a final score of 18-14, which I am quite proud of. Heikki, I am very looking forward to playing agains sometime in the future to prove that Thanatek are really the second most OP band in the game. ๐Ÿ™‚

Game 7 – vs Ivan (Grymwatch DS/EotK)

This was Day 2 of the tournament and the elimination/top cut bracket began. These next games are still fresh in my mind as I am writing this back on the way to home, meaning I literally just played the games today, so odds are they are in much more vivid detail.

I was training my tournament partner with this exact pairing and therefore knew that Thantek. was a hard counter to Edge. My wincon was Thanatek being alive. Thus, I kept a Round 1 hand of 4 upgrades and Sunder the Realm because it included Utter Conviction.

Round 1 began with Gristlewel charging into Medeb-Akhโ€™s two shields and missing. Then the Nightโ€™s Herald pulled up and stole Gristlewelโ€™s club to try again and missed again. In all this commotion I was able to get onto many tokens for Torn Landscape and ping the ghouls down a little. My master plan was to get them all to one health and Sunder the Realm at the end to prevent Ivan from using his Raise twice. Well, it was going great but then I managed to whiff on 2/3 guys I needed to kill (it did kill someone) and harm another undamaged ghoul. While it seemed bad I did score nicely this round with Torn being done but so did Ivan, making it an even Round 2.

In Round 2, I threatened to one shot the Duke with Desperate Rage and Gloryseeker. I even prepped Raging Tremors and Savage Blow. I even connected the attack! Alas, the Duke Stand Fasted. Luckily I did get a Cadaver off this which I found funny as I used it later to win the game. I managed to lose MY ENTIRE WARBAND this round (at least I got Broken Prospects, continuing the trend of sac’ing everyone to score it). Sekhmor died to a failed attempt on the Dukeโ€™s life, Xar-Tamok got killed shortly after his Desperate Rage, and Medeb-Akh did kill the Duke but died in the process. I almost killed the Bats by accident as my attack got redirected with Take One of the Team and I rolled 2 Crits for my Grievous but then Ivan rolled 2 Dodges, which was sad as we had a 5 minute rules debate about whether I can switch my weapon ability after Take One for the Team. I thought we ended the Round there and panicked when Ivan still had one turn, as I used my Improv Attack to kill the Duke and couldnโ€™t force Strip, but extremely luckily Ivan forgot to delve with Gristlewel who charged onto a cover.

Round 3 began with a Butcher charging the 4 Shields Thanatek and in a rare turn of events his 4 Sword attack managed to connect. I didnโ€™t want to get Tempered so I just charged back and used my one hammer Bolt to try and kill the Butcher but missed (he had Death Throes). Luckily, I was out of charge range for the rest of the band after a Sidestep. After 2 activations of focusing from both of us I used my last turn to go adjacent to the Butcher to deny Calm Before the Storm whilst bringing back Sekhmor and Canny Sapper+Violent blasting him onto an Aqua Ghyranis. This allowed me to deny Trial whilst also winning with a very nice 18-15 lead.

Thanks a lot to Ivan for the game! Was great fun talking with you and just playing, and it was definitely a very intense game – just look at the glory score! Hope to play again in the future!

Game 8 – vs Bastian (Gitz PnP/DS)

I was back up against Bastian in the top cut!

I started my first round by taking every token in my territory and also the middle token, as it was uncontested this time. I did have BOTH Broken Prospects and Torn, so I knew I had to score them to get a huge start. I kept getting attacked by squigs and I just couldn’t hit them back. I did get two kills, one by knocking Prog into Snirk and one by murdering a squig with the Interdimensional Space Dagger. I undelved one token to not give Bastian Strip the Realm, learning from my game against Mattias.

Round 2 had me draw into NO DELVE OBJECTIVES. This meant I could do MURDER. And I did! I started by killing the squig (over 2 activations), but unfortunately I missed my interdimensional space dagger for the FIRST and LAST time this tournament. It must have been a necromantical anamoly somewhere… Anyways, Redcap also died because he tried to take a token I wanted from Sekhmor inspired. I lost two fighters in the process but didn’t give up Aggressive Unity, and managed to score my whole hand as well!

At the start of Round 3, I managed to score Perfect Cut into a 3 Save Flanked and Surrounded. Very skillful. Then Snirk used Tunneling Terror, tried to dive Thanatek, but I because he didn’t use Canny Sapper yet I was worried of running away. Then I realized Bastian used his last ploy already so I spent the entire rest of the round running away from Snirk as he couldn’t charge cause of Tunneling Terror. I ended with a stride onto the Aqua Ghyranis to deny Torn Landscape and score the very difficult Spread Havoc, ending with a very solid 19-8 score.

Game 9 – vs. Dan (Kamandoras DS/WnR)

My semi finals game was against Dan who was just like last year rocking an unexplored deck in Realmstone Raiders. Last year he had Ironsouls with BA/EotK, check out the article on it here!

Round 1 began with Dan sending every single Kamandoran into Medeb-Akh and the Mortis Reapers, which was very unkind. I was able to generate a cadaver before getting swarmed and inspired Sekhmor to threaten some kills, but I knew if I didn’t score Torn Landscape this round then I’d never get to. Thus Sekhmor was sacrificed as bait because Dan told me earlier in the day that he is terrified of Ensnare. I managed to score Against the Odds, Torn Landscape, and get one attack for Hostile Takevoer but Dan thankfully scored nothing – huge for me.

Round 2 is the one round I don’t have a photo of. Sorry. Anyways, it started off with me losing the roll off but Sekhmor didn’t die cause he Elusive Mirage’d the attack! I drew into Broken Prospects so I delved with Thanatek, praying he wouldn’t get dived, but thanks to the Worthy Skull he couldn’t be reached. I struck back with my 3 hammers/flanked ensnare but missed into 2 Dodges with full supports, which was quite a shame but I did get Hostile Takeover and then instantly lost Sekhmor. Instead of sticking around to get Dan Aggressive Unity, I ran away with Tukhar, and delved for Broken Prospects. I then marked the dog as the possesor with the intention of Improv Attacking, pushing, then charging and Sidestepping to overcome the 5 hex distance I needed to get to the last Broken Prospects token (as Dan never held a treasure for Strip – he claimed he only denies it in R3 for this exact reason!). Unfortunately, I got charged by one of the 2 little Kamandorans who hit Xar-Tamok, bled him out, and then drove him into a Stagger hex for the kill. Luckily I did play Countercharge right before to put Tukhar in reach of the last token but oh man, what a combo.

Round 3 began with Tukhar getting surrounded but luckily he Stood Fast again! This bought me a crucial activation necessary for him to be charged again and killed. I knew Dan had Roused Violence. He charged into Tukhar again, and then Tukhar died. Luckily, the power step before I used all of my one cadaver to Raise Sekhmor. Now I have him Desperate Rage and charged into Throkk, who was for some reason in the middle of the board. By some intervention from Nagash my 2 Hammers connected into his 2 Dodges/Flanked, and then I finished him off with a nasty 4 Dice Sunder the Realm. After dying, I blasted Kannat off the board with a Thanatek charge. I then played Canny Sapper + Sidestep to get onto a cover and delve it to deny Roused Violence, and managed to connect my last attack onto Kammandora to score Strip the Realm. Yay! This ended the game with a super tight score of 19-18 (though looking back at the images it’s actually 20-18 cause I forgot about the Aqua Ghyranis in R1).

Thanks a lot to Dan for the game! Props to you for bringing an ‘underpowered’ deck again and doing so well again. I was getting absolutely owned by the Kamandoras and if my Desperate Rage Hail Mary did not connect, the game was as good as yours. So thanks a lot – it was great playing our first game and hope we play again soon!

Game 10 – vs. Kettil (Emberwatch BA/RF)

I was very terrified of Vanguard Dash + Twist the Knife to instantly kill Thanatek this time, but Kettil (whom I played with these exact warbands already!) had a different approach from our last game. Also unrelated but I have to say this was an amazing table to play on, there was literally infinite space.

In Round 1, Yurik instantly charged onto a token and played Shields Up to hold it down, which was very annoying consider I had Shocking Assault. I tried to get him off by a couple of lucky attacks, but failed to roll a crit on my first meaning I had to abandon ship or lose out on Broken Prospects. Whilst getting barraged by Sigmarites I spent the last 3 activations moving onto treasures to delve and score Broken Prospects. I kept getting peppered by bolts this round, leaving me quite damaged on 3/4 fighters.

Round 2 started with Thanatek dying! Ardorn charged with 3 Hammers Flanked + Reroll into Thanatek’s two shields, and unfortunately I failed the two shields roll. However, things were still fine as I was still in position to deny Kettil’s stuff while scoring my own. I kileld Yurik, and tried to focus on scoring Torn Landscape. In the last power step Kettil forgot to delve a cover, but unfortunately I did not have Strip here while also scoring Torn Landscape anyway.

Going into Round 3, I was a bit behind points wise but thought I still had a grasp on things. I started off with my second Desperate Rage charge with a 2 Hammers Staggered attack into Farassa, but despite rolling two success Kettil masterfully blocked the attack. Even so, I felt I still had a chance. Ardorn used Commanding Stride to get into his territory and kill Tukhar who was trying his best to get away. Medeb-Akh also died after his failed assassination attempt onto Farassa. In my last activations, I saw a way I could win – if Kettil tried to score his own stuff, I could drive both his fighters off tokens, score Strip, and Raise Sekhmor to deny Arena Mortis. However, Kettil made genuinely the simplest and most masterful play of the day here – and it began all the way in Round 1. See, what I failed to account for was Kettil still had not used Vanguard Dash. He read the fact that I have Improv Attack, and put Ardorn on Guard and then Vanguard Dashes and Sidesteped onto a token. I finally knew the game was over (I doubted Kettil would randomly delve ๐Ÿ™‚ ) but still tried to deny some final glory by Raising and driving people away. I connected my 4 Dice Improv Attack, but then Alone I Stand came in to give Kettil Bloody Momentum, Arena Mortis, and a very impressed handshake from myself. This was my worst loss of the tournament glory diff wise, being an 18-13 defeat!

Thanks a lot to Kettil for this game! You played absolutely epicly – you managed to deny so much from myself while also making the most of your high accuracy to murder my chances. I would love to play sometime again – we had great fun the whole time and it was also a fun game to play, constantly having to puzzle my way out of your little tricksy plays! Hope we play again soon – and congratulations on your well-deserved win ๐Ÿ™‚

That wraps up the tournament games! Now it’s final standings time ๐Ÿ™‚

I ended up placing in 3 different positions – being in the finals, I assumed I was 2nd place by normal tournament systems, on BCP, I was shown as 7th player by games won and lost, but overall I managed to achieve a nice 3rd place and this very cool trophy designed by Sonny – check out his other projects here!

The overall rankings factored in the painting score, sportsmanship, the quiz (btw one of my favorite parts of the event – more tournaments should do it), and of course, the games.

I had an absolute blast at this tournament and enjoyed almost every moment of it. I met some epic people that I knew online but not in person, which I enjoyed, and hope to see them again soon! Of course, meeting people I already knew was also nice – and getting to play with my fellow Austrian team is always a pleasure (speaking of, as a team we placed 3rd, a downgrade from last year’s first – we need to step it up!!!)

I know for sure someone is reading this and is like ‘how did Thanatek do so well’. First of all, they are the second most op warband in the game. Second, I do have a promised deck guide coming up sooner or later which will explain how to replicate the results. So look out for that!

This weekend was a tournament-heavy weekend with Adepticon, Copenhagen, another tourney somewhere apparently that I don’t even know the name of, and of course the Benelux Clash IV which Quint covers in his article – it’s a lot shorter and faster to read so if you have a sec check it out!

With that, thanks a lot to everyone for reading! Hope you enjoyed this read ๐Ÿ™‚ If you want to chat (especially my opponents whose discord I don’t already know) make sure to join the Staggerers Discord, where Thanatek tips are given on a per-request basis! With that, again thanks for reading, and I hope to see you again soon ๐Ÿ™‚
